UPDATES to Wednesday road rage incident north of Kissimmee; suspect arrested

A man has been arrested in connection with a road rage incident Wednesday afternoon along Simpson Road north of .

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office arrested Pedro Gonzalez-Hernandez, 33, and charged him with Attempted Felony Murder, Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Tampering with Evidence. He was remanded to the Osceola County Jail.

According to Sheriff Marcos Lopez, just before noon an “altercation” occurred on Simpson. The victim stated he was driving in the area of Villa Sol when a vehicle pulled up beside him, and the driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, fired a handgun at him. The bullet from the handgun went through the victim’s vehicle’s door and into his leg, causing a non-life-threatening injury.

The victim was able to stop, call 911 and give a description of the vehicle, which turned down Boggy Terrace Drive, a side street. Multiple patrol and investigative units located the suspect's vehicle parked at an address another block away on Great Oaks Boulevard, where Gonzalez-Hernandez was surrounded. He eventually surrendered and was taken into custody. A Sheriff's Office report stated he admitted to getting into an altercation with another driver in the area but denied shooting him.

Lopez said Wednesday the victim’s car had children’s items in it.

“There’s no argument in the world worth shooting at someone. We could’ve been dealing with a fatality and a child could have been hurt or killed,” Lopez said.
