A 10-hour search of East Lake Toho that began early Wednesday morning for a missing woman resulted in the recovery of her body, St. Cloud Police officials report.

The body of St. Cloud resident Elizabeth Mathis, 63, was recovered shortly before noon

Following a 10-hour search by air, water, and ground, the St. Cloud Police Department recovered her body north of Chisholm Park, along the eastern portion of the lake. St. Cloud police detectives will be working with the local Medical Examiner’s Office to determine a cause of death, SCPD spokesperson Andrew Sullivan said Wednesday. Officials said they do not suspect foul play or a criminal act in the case.

Mathis was reported missing Tuesday afternoon by her family, and SCPD Officers patrolling the St. Cloud Lakefront  reported her vehicle parked in the city marina parking lot Tuesday night. In the early overnight hours this morning, the search for her whereabouts began, closing the marina, boat ramp and part of the lakefront for most of the morning during the investigation. They have since reopened.

St. Cloud Fire Rescue, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission combined their resources -- boats, airboats and helicopters -- combined their resources on the extensive search conducted along the south shore of the lake.
