Thirty-nine department members, including volunteers, communications dispatchers and school crossing guards received awards, ranging from sustained yearly performance awards to recognition for service to the community and acts of valor at the St. Cloud Police Department Awards Ceremony on March 11. Recently deceased Police K-9 Endo was memorialized.
Crossing Guard of the Year was Joe Torres and Communications Operator of the Year was Cassandra Hill. Officer Nicolas Frigiola received the Award of Merit for rescuing the driver of a vehicle that veered into East Lake Toho on a cold winter evening, as well as an award for installing security enhancements for an elderly resident on his off-duty time. Lyn Badman-Paton took top honors as Officer of the Year.
