St. Cloud man pleads guilty to drug trafficking, firearms offenses

The Department of Justice has announced a St. Cloud man faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years, up to life, in federal prison for his role in selling methamphetamine and a firearm

Robert J. Potocnack, 42, has pleaded guilty to one count of possession with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense. His sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 9.

According to court documents and the plea agreement, in November 2022, Potocnack sold 224 grams of methamphetamine and a firearm to an undercover detective from the St. Cloud Police Department, who investigated along with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the St. Cloud Police Department.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make neighborhoods safer for everyone.
