St. Cloud man killed crossing 192 near OHP Thursday night, FHP reports

A 63-year-old St. Cloud man died Thursday night after Florida Highway Patrol troopers say he was struck by a motorist on U.S. Highway 192 near Osceola Heritage Park.

According to the FHP report, just after 9:30 p.m. the man was crossing 192 from the south side on the east side of Bill Beck Boulevard on a bicycle, in the crosswalk. Troopers say the driver of a Chevy Silverado, a 56-year-old Kissimmee man, was heading westbound, entered the intersection on a green light and struck the bicyclist who entered the pickup truck's path.

The victim was transported to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver was not injured and remained on scene.

FHP says the crash, which closed 192 between Bill Beck and Simpson Road well into night, including after the Osceola Magic game at nearby Silver Spurs Arena, remains under investigation.
