So why is it so hazy around Osceola County?

This morning, and much of Monday, you may have noticed some hazy skies, almost a low-grade fog, along with just a twinge of the smell of smoke in the air.

Is there a fire?

Yes there is ... in of all places, Canada.

The National Weather Service in Melbourne is reporting that the smoke is actually coming all the way from a fire in Quebec, Canada to the south of the Hudson Bay.

The Canadian wildfire smoke, from about 300 fires burning out of control north of the border, ended up in Florida due to the combination of a low-pressure system over Florida from over the weekend, and a high-pressure system over the eastern U.S., causing the winds around those systems to carry it south down the eastern seaboard. It is being reported as far south as Miami.

The haze looks to stick around through at least the overnight hours.
