The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says the human remains found last Wednesday may be those of a man reported missing from outside the county, the agency reported Monday.
Deputies were called to an area behind a bus stop near the 4200 block of Pleasant Hill Road, across the road from Liberty High School, the morning of Dec. 14 to investigate remains found in a wooded area less than about 12 feet into trees just off the sidewalk.
OCSO reported that clothes were found on the remains, including men's underwear, leading investigators to suspect the remains are likely of an adult male. Other personal items were found with the remains that appeared to match items belonging to a missing person previously reported to law enforcement from another county.
The Sheriff's Office said it has contacted the missing person's family with this information, but a positive identification from the Medical Examiner's Office has not yet been confirmed.
A Sheriff's Office release also noted that, based on the information available, there is no evidence to suggest foul play.
The investigation is still ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the death, and results from the Medical Examiner's Office are still pending. Anyone who may have information into this case is asked to call the Osceola County Sheriff's Office at (407) 348-1100.
