Tina Turner, an iconic diva of music industry and an influence to three generations of music fans, has passed away at the age of 83, the Associated Press and a number of other outlets have reported.
She had battled illness, after a cancer diagnosis and kidney transplant within the last seven years.
A career that started during her tumultuous career with ex-husband Ike Turner in the 1960s blossomed for Tina, born Anna Mae Bullock, in the 1980s when she was in her 40s — not the ideal time to sprout a career, but she overcame all that.
Her hits included: “Proud Mary,” “Nutbush City Limits,” “River Deep, Mountain High,” and the hits she had in the ’80s, among them “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” “We Don’t Need Another Hero” and a cover of Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together.”
