A $1 million ticket that matched all white balls sold in Florida out of the 14 that did that
SATURDAY: Go buy a ticket for tonight's Powerball drawing. The full value of the jackpot is now $1.8 billion after the 42nd rollover Wednesday.
The jackpot has an estimated cash value of $826.4 million if a player takes the "lump sum" option.
While 15 players nationwide, including one ticket purchased in Florida, matched all five white balls (3, 16, 29, 61, 69) to win $1 million or $2 million, nobody also matched red Powerball 22.
Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is now the second-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history behind the record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot won in California on Nov. 7, 2022.
“Excitement is building as players look forward to Saturday night’s drawing for this historic jackpot,” said Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO. “We encourage everyone to play responsibly and take pride in knowing that every $2 ticket also helps support good causes in their community.”
You win something if you at least match the red ball ($4), or more with matching at least three white numbers, and more with a combination of those. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
Meanwhile, you have a 1 in 15,300 chance of being struck by lightning in your lifetime, a 1 in 13.7 million chance of getting killed in a plane crash, and 1 in 11.5 million chance of being attacked by a shark.
As always, the winning numbers will be drawn live at 10:59 p.m. Eastern time (get your tickets by 10 p.m.) and streamed live on Powerball.com. Good luck players!
TUESDAY UPDATE: Still no big Powerball winner, as no ticket in the country matched the 8, 23, 25, 40, 53 white balls and red Powerball 5 Monday, so Wednesday night's jackpot swells to $1.3 billion. The jackpot has an estimated cash value of $589 million.
Nationwide, ten tickets matched all five white balls to win $1 million prizes. The $1 million-winning tickets were sold in California, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey (2), New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Tickets sold in Montana and North Carolina matched all five white balls and increased their winnings to $2 million, by including the Power Play® option for $1 more at purchase.
Wednesday’s Powerball drawing, the fifth biggest in game history, will be the 41st drawing since the jackpot was last won in California on May 31, 2025. To date, the longest Powerball jackpot run has been 42 consecutive drawings, which was set on April 6, 2024, with a $1.326 billion jackpot winner in Oregon.
As always, the winning numbers will be drawn live at 10:59 p.m. Eastern time (get your tickets by 10 p.m.). Good luck players!
SUNDAY UPDATE: No ticket in the country matched the Powerball numbers of 3, 18, 22, 27, 33 and red Powerball 17, so the jackpot for the drawing Monday night -- Labor Day -- will be at least $1.1 billion. It would be the fifth-largest jackpot payout in game history. It reached $2.04 billion in November 2022, when a winning ticket in California hit it.
“America has waited all year for the chance to play for a billion-dollar jackpot, and what better time than Labor Day for a $1.1 billion Powerball drawing!” said Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO. “With just one $2 ticket, you could win it all – all while helping to support good causes close to home.”
The one-time cash payment would have an estimated cash value of $498.4 million.
Nine tickets matched all five white balls to win $1 million prizes Saturday. Those tickets were sold in California (4), Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. Three of them included the extra Power Play option and increased to $2 million. There were also 115 tickets that won $50,000 prizes and 27 tickets that won $150,000 prizes
FRIDAY: For just the sixth time, the Powerball® jackpot has reached an estimated $1 billion for Saturday night's drawing.
In reality, the winner will not be a billionaire, as taxes of about 37 percent must be paid on winnings. And that's if you take the winnings over 30 years and receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year. The up-front cash payment would be about $453.1 million.
Powerball® tickets are $2 per play (you can add the "Power Play" for an extra $1 to multiply all non-jackpot wins ... but if it was a good bet they wouldn't offer it). Players select five numbers between 1 and 69 for the white balls, then select one number between 1 and 26 for the red Powerball. You must match all five white ball numbers plus the Powerball to win the top prize, but just matching the Powerball gets you $3, if you match all five white balls you win $1 million, and there's a bunch of prizes in between.
Saturday’s drawing will be the 39th drawing since the Powerball jackpot was last won in California on May 31, 2025 (they happen on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays). The summer jackpot streak has already created 62 winning tickets worth $1 million or more, lottery officials say, and 608 winning tickets worth $50,000 or more.
And, of course ... GOOD LUCK PLAYERS!!!
