Portillo’s hiring for new Kissimmee location

Local fans of the Portillo’s restaurant fare of hot dogs, beef sandwiches, burgers and unique desserts and shakes will, at some point, be able to find them in Osceola County.

The chain of authentic Chicago-style foods advertised job openings at a store to open at 8011 West U.S. Highway 192 (Irlo Bronson Hwy.). That’s west of Kissimmee between Interstate 4 and State Road 429, across 192 from the Margaritaville Resort.

Then, Tuesday morning, Portillo’s released a page on its News site (portillos.com/Kissimmee) proclaiming the new opening, announcing it is hiring managers and shirt leaders, with hiring for other team members coming soon.

Portillo’s Careers page (www.portillos.com/careers/career-opportunities) includes open application for Shift Leaders, a part-time position paying $17 per hour.

We offer competitive pay, flexible schedules, free shift meals, the opportunity to get paid daily, growth opportunities and more,” the announcement page said.

The announcement came a week after the chain announced two new Arizona openings. With the new Kissimmee restaurant, Portillos will have 74 U.S. locations, mostly in Illiinois, Indiana and the upper Midwest.

The first area location opened last March near the corner of Palm Parkway and Darryl Carter Parkway opened to much fanfare. It shares parking space with a White Castle location a block away, which opened months prior and became the franchise’s top location for sales.
