Registration is now open for Osceola County’s AdventHealth community COVID-19 drive-up testing, which opens Thursday at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee.
The tests will be available to anyone who has symptoms or anyone who has had close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, even if they are not currently experiencing symptoms. Those who wish to be tested do not need a doctor’s order prior to arrival. There are no out-of-pocket costs, regardless of insurance status. AdventHealth will cover the cost of those who are uninsured. The test consists of coughing and spitting into a cup. Those who meet the criteria and wish to be tested should visit AdventHealthCoronaVirusTesting.com prior to arrival.
“Ensuring our residents have more access to testing has been a goal for us in Osceola County,” said Osceola County Commission Chairwoman Viviana Janer. “Additional testing also means more accurate information for us to effectively plan when businesses are allowed to reopen and get Osceola back to work. We are grateful to AdventHealth for stepping forward and taking up this critical task in our community.”
Results can be expected in approximately two to three days. Those tested will receive a text message with instructions on how to retrieve the results. Those who test positive will receive a call from a nurse to review the results and provide care instructions.
The Osceola Heritage Park site will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Osceola Board of County Commissioners voted 5-0 on Monday to extend an existing state of emergency for Osceola County as part of its response to the coronavirus (COVID-19). The board will meet again on April 27 in order to extend the order an additional seven days, if needed.
