The Osceola County Corrections Department has earned the “Excelsior” recognition and has been reaccredited by the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission (FCAC) for providing a safe, secure and humane environment for inmates.
“This achievement speaks highly of our corrections staff and their ability to maintain this level of performance during the COVID-19 pandemic, which posed unprecedented challenges. I’m grateful that staff continue to demonstrate their dedication and professionalism in keeping the public and those in their care safe,” said Osceola County Commission Chairman Brandon Arrington.
“The certification process improves facility operations through adherence to clear and relevant industry standards, and significantly the Osceola County Jail has maintained its certification at the highest levels possible.” The Excelsior recognition is awarded to Florida criminal justice agencies who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the accreditation process and received at least five successful reaccreditations. During the reaccreditation process, FCAC found the Osceola County Corrections Department to be in 100 percent compliance will all professional standards. It is now one of only 23 Excelsior agencies statewide.
Receiving its initial FCAC accreditation in 2003, this marks the sixth consecutive time the Osceola County Corrections Department has passed its reaccreditation inspection. In doing so, they have demonstrated their dedication to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism in corrections.
