Over in Buenaventura Lakes, Osceola County dignitaries officially opened a new half-mile walking trail around 65th Infantry Veterans Park.

County leaders like County Commissioner Viviana Janer, whose District 2 includes the park, braved Tuesday morning's blustery chill to hold a ribbon cutting.

“This investment reflects our continued commitment to creating safe, inviting, and connected spaces where families can gather, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors together,” Janer said during the ceremony.

As part of the project, 19 Southern oak trees, 25 bald cypress trees, and 11 winged elm trees were planted to provide shade along the path, which connects a prior first phase in the park that also connects an exercise pad the county unveiled a year ago. A children’s playground and disc golf course, Senses Park and the El Yunque splash pad are also nearby.

Other recently completed safety improvements in the park, the county said, were repairs to damaged sidewalks and concrete near the playground.
