Osceola County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a Code Enforcement Officer they say stole a package containing a cellphone from in front of a St. Cloud home.
Vanessa Ramon, 37, was arrested and charged with felony grand theft in connection to the April 16 incident.
The agency said deputies responded to a larceny report on Maple Tree Lane, where they were told a package containing a
$600 cell phone was delivered to the property and subsequently stolen by an Osceola County Code Enforcement Officer, an act capture on the home's surveillance camera system.
By viewing the evidence, detectives from the East Property Crimes Unit confirmed a uniformed Code Enforcement Officer identified as Vanessa Ramon arrived at the property in a white Osceola County pickup truck and removed a package laying near the main door of a camper on the property. She is then observed tossing the package into the bed of the truck and driving away. After confirming Ramon's identity and confirming pilfering the package was not part of her official duties, Ramon was interviewed and arrested. Despite reportedly being transported to the Osceola Jail without further incident on Wednesday, by Thursday night there was no report of her arrest on the Jail's or Clerk of Court's website.
