An 18-year-old Winter Springs man was killed, and two other drivers were seriously injured, in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on Narcoossee Road just south of Boggy Creek Road, Florida Highway Patrol investigators said.
According to investigators, shortly after noon Wednesday a a 2008 Chevrolet HHR was traveling northbound in the outside lane, when the driver attempted to change into the inside lane and reportedly lost control. The vehicle veered raised center median and into the southbound lanes, into the path of a southbound 2018 Ford Explorer driven by a 47-year-old Winter Garden woman. The two vehicles collided head on.
Moments later, a 2022 Land Rover traveling behind the Explorer driven by a 53-year-old Orlando man struck the rear left side of the Ford. The impact caused the driver of the Chevrolet, who troopers say was not wearing a seat belt, to be ejected from the vehicle. Emergency crews transported the driver to UCF Lake Nona Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The drivers of the Ford and the Land Rover were both taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center in serious condition; there is no update yet on their ongoing condition.
The incident closed Narcoossee Road in both directions for much of the afternoon while crews cleared the scene and investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash.
