Val Kilmer, the beloved actor who portrayed Batman, The Doors' Jim Morrison and appeared in 'Top Gun' and its successful 2022 sequel, has died at the age of 65, family members have confirmed.
Kilmer, who had battled with throat cancer a decade ago, died from pneumonia Tuesday in his hometown of Los Angeles.
While his character of "Iceman: Kazansky across from Tom Cruise in "Top Gun" in 1986 announced his arrival, it was working with Kurt Russell and Bill Paxton in "Tombstone" in 1993 that cemented him as a heartthrob and "man's man". Two years later, he donned the suit and became Batman in "Batman Forever". He remained active long enough to appear with his daughter Mercedes, born in 1991, in the 2020 crime thriller "Paydirt."
