St. Cloud DAR chapter awarded Supporter of the Year
On Saturday, Joshua Stevens Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) of St. Cloud, FL received an award from Constitution For The People, Inc. (CFTP) for Top Supporter of the Year, having delivered 5,475 Constitution Booklets to Osceola County 5th graders. Chapter Regent Patti Whipple, Chapter Recording Secretary Linda Shumard, and Florida State Chair of Constitution Week, Tracy Suarez, accepted the award on behalf of their chapter at a fundraiser sponsored by Rotary Club of Naples Bay Foundation.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War.
Smith Street south of 192 closed through Monday
Toho Water Authority (Toho) has announced Smith Street south of Vine Street in Kissimmee is temporary closed to thru traffic between Vine and Cherry Street through Monday (please see map), although the schedule could vary according to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. Freshwater license free weekend April 2-3
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) invites Florida residents and visitors to go freshwater fishing during the two license-free days this weekend, April 2-3 (Saturday and Sunday).
License-free freshwater fishing days provide an excellent opportunity for those new to fishing without needing to first purchase a license. On these days, the fishing license requirement is waived for all recreational anglers, including residents and nonresidents. All other rules including seasons, bag and size limits still apply.

State Attorney announces series of Community Town hall meetings
State Attorney Monique H. Worrell and the Ninth Judicial Circuit’s Community Engagement team will host the first of a series of community townhall meetings, with the goals for educating communities on the criminal legal system, actively engaging youth and young adults, and empowering victims and witnesses of crime to work with law enforcement.

UCF Incubator business expands
As the market for BRISA America’s automation technology products continues to grow, the UCF’s Kissimmee Incubator client company has expanded its team.
The Celebration-based company has hired Michelle Nascimento to oversee the company’s marketing and sales efforts to speed up its growth in the hospitality industry, including hotels and property management companies.
BRISA was founded in Brazil in 1988 and expanded into the United States through the UCF Business Incubator’s Soft-Landing Program in 2017. The company serves client brands including LG Electronics, Epson, Ericson and Lexmark.
