Osceola Sheriff, Puerto Rican Police sign intelligence sharing agreement

The Osceola Sheriff’s Office and Puerto Rican State Police and have signed a first-of-its-kind agreement to share police intelligence regarding suspects of crime. On Friday, Sheriff Marcos Lopez and Puerto Rico Governor Pedro Pierluisi signed a Memorandum of Understanding Friday to share police intelligence.

Since taking office, Lopez said he’s noted a pattern of those committing crimes in Osceola County or Puerto Rico, then fleeing to the other location. Creating an intelligence sharing system will help police in both jurisdictions apprehend those who attempt to flee from justice.

“Today is important day for victims of crime. Working together signals a combined commitment to keep past and present citizens of Puerto Rico and Osceola County safe,” said Sheriff Lopez.

This is the first time the Puerto Rican State Police, and any law enforcement agency in Florida have signed an agreement to share police intelligence regarding suspects of crime.

City of St. Cloud names new Clerk staff

The City of St. Cloud has announced that Ivy De La Cruz has been appointed City Clerk, and Claudia Klockars has been appointed Deputy City Clerk. Long-time city clerk Linda Jaworski retired earlier this fall.

De La Cruz, the first Hispanic City Clerk in the city’s history, has worked for the city since 2006 as deputy city clerk. She has more than 25 years of government experience, having previously worked in Miami-Dade before coming to St. Cloud. De La Cruz is a Certified Municipal Clerk and is pursuing her Master Municipal Clerk certification through the Florida Association of City Clerks.

Klockars has worked for the city since 2017, serving as an executive administrative assistant for the City Clerk and Code Enforcement Special Magistrate. She holds an Associate of Arts degree from Valencia College, where she also is close to completing a degree in Criminal Justice. She is pursuing her Certified Municipal Clerk certification through the Florida Association of City Clerks.

“Ivy and Claudia have the right combination of skills and experience to lead our City Clerk’s office,” said City Manager Veronica Miller. “They are well respected, and they will serve the city and its citizens well.”

Kissimmee seeking event sponsors, service vendors

The City of Kissimmee has announced it is seeking both event sponsors and vendors.

The city announced last week it’s searching for a variety of interested business entities looking to become sponsors for 2023 festivals and events held at the Kissimmee Lakefront Park and Kissimmee Civic Center. Due to the nature, varying size, and needs of each event, the monetary value of each sponsorship level will be flexible and unique to each event. As a result, the terms of each sponsorship agreement will vary.

The city also seeks vendors to provide alcoholic beverage service. Vendors may also provide non-alcoholic beverages and food service if they choose but will not be the exclusive non-alcoholic beverage or food service provider at events or festivals. The City averages one to three events or festivals per month where alcoholic beverages may be offered. The City will select multiple vendors to provide service.

Anyone interested in learning more about theses opportunities should contact Matt Libby, Assistant Director, Parks & Recreation Department, 101 Church St., Suite 330, Kissimmee, FL 34741. His email is matt.libby@kissimmee.gov. All submissions and proposals must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18.
