Based on the continuous success of The World’s Largest Collector Car Auction®, held by Mecum Auctions each January at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Mecum is returning to OHP for a Summer Special auction July 6-9.
“We went from planning for a three-day, 1.000-vehicle event to now four days with over 1,500 vehicles,” said David Morton, Mecum’s Manager of Communications and Event Marketing.
The “Summer Special” has been held at the Orange County Convention Center for the past two years, after debuting in Kissimmee in 2019 and a repeat performance in summer 2020.
“Mecum Auctions is back to Kissimmee due to the flexibility and outstanding cooperation of the Heritage Park staff,” Morton said.
July’s event will be broadcast live on MotorTrendTV and MotorTrend+. Auction vehicle highlights include The Mitchell Estate Collection, with 30 vehicles representing over 100 years of automotive history, from a 1909 Buick Runabout to a 2020 Tesla Model S, all being offered at no reserve. Most of the collection is comprised of prewar World War II Ford roadsters but also includes a pair of 1957 Ford Thunderbird E-Code Convertibles.
Last January, Mecum’s Kissimmee auction achieved two auto auction world records; $234 million in sales and more than 4,000 vehicle lots that crossed the auction block. The annual event also became the first-ever collector car auction to eclipse the $200 million mark in sales in consecutive years, going back to the 2021 Kissimmee auction.
The main annual Mecum Auction, which has been held in Kissimmee for almost 20 years now, is one of the two mainstay events of Osceola Heritage Park, along with the Silver Spurs Rodeo and Osceola County Fair.
