Two separate incidents in the 7 p.m. hour saw a male killed when crossing U.S. Highway 192 and four people hurt when a boat caught fire on Lake Toho
Florida Highway Patrol reports a 53-year-old man was killed around 7:40 p.m. crossing 192 from south to north -- not in a crosswalk -- near Old Vineland Road. He was hit in the westbound lanes by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle then fled the scene, while the victim was pronounced deceased on scene.
FHP said there were no reported witnesses to the crash, and they have no information about the vehicle or driver. If you have information into this fatal crash, call FHP at 407-737-2213 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
Less than an hour before that, around 7 p.m., Kissimmee firefighters responded to the Toho lakefront, where four people were hurt during a fire in the parking lot of Big Toho Marina. According to officials, four adults were working on the boat when it caught fire. Of the four patients, one was treated on scene with minor injuries. The other three patients were airlifted to an Orlando hospital, two of them in critical condition, to receive treatment for severe burns.
Because of the severity of the injuries, the State Fire Marshal is responding to conduct an investigation.
