Limited information is being released about the Osceola County Sheriff's Office investigation into a crash linked to a shooting late Sunday night in Buenaventura Lakes.
A male driver was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries after what Sheriff's officials called a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of Simpson Road and Buenaventura Boulevard.
A release from the Sheriff’s Office noted that when deputies initially arrived on the scene, they received communication that the driver was potentially the victim of a crime, and that shell casings were found at the scene. The scene was cleared by Monday's morning drive-time.
"We have started an investigation and will be reviewing all evidence to determine what took place ... this is still an active investigation, and more information will be released as it becomes available," a Sheriff's Office release said early Monday afternoon, much like one released Sunday night said.
