Lifeboat Project human trafficking Lunch and Learn May 9

Today, I hope you take a few moments to read this.

The International Labor Organization estimates that there are 40.3 million victims of human trafficking globally. The victims are men and women, adults, children and, of course, U.S. Citizens.

Trafficking takes on various forms: domestic servitude, forced child labor, sex trafficking of children and adults, and more. The numbers are staggering, the stories are overwhelming and the occurrences are appalling.

Before you move on, let me ask you: What if?

What if it were your mother who disappeared into a life of forced labor?
What if it were your sister who was dragged into a degrading and repugnant existence?
What if it were your daughter or granddaughter living a nightmare beyond understanding?
What if your anger, fear and outrage were not enough?

We invite you to join us, along with The Lifeboat Project, at the St. Cloud Community Center at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9 for an important Lunch and Learn to discuss the horrific problem of human trafficking.

Guest speakers include: Deborah Barra – General Counsel, Osceola Sheriff ’s Office;
Erika Booth – Osceola County School Board member;
Ricky Booth – Osceola County District 5 Commissioner;
Mike Fisher – Senior Manager of Investigations, Universal Orlando;
Douglas Goerke, - St. Cloud Police Department Chief

If you can’t make it, can we count on you to remember victims, pray for those still caught in a web of exploitation and work toward a brighter future?
