After a portion of Lakeshore Boulevard west of downtown St. Cloud was closed for some of 2022, the road will close again at Brown Chapel Road, for as long as six months.
Osceola County officials say they are working with the contractor to reduce the length of the closure.
Construction on the Fortune-Lakeshore Multi-Use Trail project will crews to close it at that intersection on Tuesday (Feb. 28). The benefit of the closure is to make the area safer for pedestrians; the closure will allow installation of a pedestrian bridge over the C-31 Canal and the construction of structures and pipes to improve the drainage system in the area affected by the trail.
There will be abundant signage in the area to alert drivers of the closure and detours. Drivers coming from Fortune Road/Lakeshore and Partin Settlement from the west can use U.S. Highway 192 (or Simmons Road to 192) east to Columbia or Vermont Avenue. Westbound drivers leaving St. Cloud can use 192 (and brave the handful of traffic lights).
We will be sure to update you on when Lakeshore Boulevard will re-open.
