A Kissimmee man is facing felony charges after deputies say he hurled a soda can at another vehicle during a road rage incident, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage.
Raul Braddock-Toala, 25, was arrested Wednesday and charged with throwing a missile into an occupied vehicle and criminal mischief resulting in more than $1,000 in damage.
He made his first court appearance Thursday and has since been released from jail on a $2,500 bond. He's no stranger to the court system, with past felony arrests for fleeing law enforcement and drug possession.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the snack-fueled altercation began on March 9 along Osceola Parkway when the alleged victim refused to let the suspect’s SUV merge into traffic. After some horn honking and aggressive driving, the SUV’s driver allegedly threw a Dibs ice cream snack at the victim’s 2021 Toyota Highlander. Moments later the SUV passenger, later identified as Braddock-Toala, reportedly followed up by tossing a full soda can at the Highlander, leaving a large dent. The victim was able to record the license plate of the suspect’s vehicle and provide video footage of the incident to deputies.
When interviewed at the driver’s home on April 24, both he and Braddock-Toala admitted to tossing the ice cream in frustration, telling investigators, “It was a road rage thing,” and claimed the soda can was thrown only after the victim retaliated by throwing something at their vehicle—though deputies noted there was no fresh damage visible.
