A hint of October — drying out for the weekend

Normally we take to this space to talk weather when the weather is something to talk about.

Yes, it's been wet — our area is about two inches above normal September for rainfall in just the first 10 days of the month, and is about four inches above normal for 2025 — but there's better news.

We've reached the peak of the hurricane center and aren't tracking any storms or systems worthy of a National Hurricane Center "invest". And we're about to break out of this overly-wet pattern in time for the weekend. Normally, a break from the rain in the summer means .... HOT. This time around, not necessarily.

The stalled front that has kickstarted our rain this week will usher some drier air starting Friday, lowering the chance of rain to 30%, and a high around 87. Rinse and repeat for the weekend, but add a breeze that could get up to 20-25.

It's a reminder that, not just on the calendar, we are closer to October than we are to August.
