Hamburger Mary’s finally has Kissimmee home

The move continues from Capone’s Dinner Theater to Old Town Kissimmee for Hamburger Mary’s.

The iconic restaurant, which chose to leave its downtown Orlando location in 2025, has announced it is moving into the former Shoney’s space in the front of Old Town on west U.S. Highway 192. Ownership announced 13 months ago it would move into the former Capone’s Dinner Theater, east of the newly announced location. But info was scarce after that announcement—until last week.

“Thank you all for your patience as we’ve worked so hard to find a great location for Hamburger Mary’s,” wrote restaurant owners John Paonessa and Michael Rogier in a Facebook post.

The restaurant was a beacon of social tolerance in its former Church Street Orlando space, called by ownership as an “open-air bar and grill for open minded people” and a “safe space for the LGBTQ + community.”

Paonessa and Carpenter said in the restaurant’s social media space they will continue to provide updates.

In a release of its own, Old Town said lunch and dinner will be served Monday through Friday and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Guests will be treated to the classic Hamburger Mary’s bingo, trivia, Broadway brunch, and some new and exciting shows.

“We are so excited, but we have work to do before we get open, to turn a Shoney’s into a colorful and vibrant new Hamburger Mary’s location that we know you will love,” Paonessa and Carpenter said. “Thank you so much for your continued support.”

In a second social media post, Hamburger Mary’s said it will soon be looking for hosts, servers, bartenders, cooks and other back-of-house staff for the new Kissimmee location, “Who thrive in fast-paced environments and value a collaborative, appreciative workspace.”

An opening timetable for the Old Town location has not yet been made public.
