First Lady Jill Biden and Dr. Anthony Fauci came to Kissimmee Thursday to encourage more people to get the COVID-19 vaccine as demand tapers off.
Along with U.S. Rep. Darren Soto, D-Kissimmee, touted the vaccine as safe, effective and free.
About 56% of Floridians have gotten at least one shot. Nationwide, it jumps to about 66% of the population.
Biden and Fauci, the government’s top infectious disease expert, greeted groups of people driving through the Osceola Community Health Services vaccination line and later with groups of local and state leaders.
“We want everyone to be protected,” Biden said.
