A motorcyclist was killed Monday evening when a pickup truck rear ended him, sparking a five-vehicle crash that ended in fire and closed lanes of Interstate 4 through Osceola County late into the night, Florida Highway Patrol reports.
According to the FHP crash report, a Ford pickup, driven by a 28-year-old Haines City man, was among traffic headed westbound shortly after 7:10 p.m. approaching the World Drive and State Road 417 interchange. The pickup failed to slow for the Honda motorcycle and rear-ended it, touching off a crash that involved three other cars. During the incident, the pickup and motorcycle became engulfed in flames, FHP said.
The motorcyclist, a 60-year-old Haines City man, was transported to Orlando Health Reunion Village and pronounced deceased. Three members of one of the other vehicles were taken to Celebration hospital with minor injuries. Those in the other vehicles, including a Kissimmee man and a woman and small child from Davenport, were not injured.
