The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who struck and killed a pedestrian, then fled, on south Simpson Road Friday night.
Troopers say around 9:30 p.m. an unknown vehicle was traveling southbound on Simpson, past Florida's Turnpike and Simpson Ridge Circle, headed toward U.S. Highway 192. A 76-year-old Kissimmee man was walking in the southbound lane, and was in the direct path of the vehicle, which hit the man. The impact threw him into the grass on the shoulder, where he was pronounced deceased on the scene when first responders arrived soon after.
The vehicle fled the scene. There were no reported witnesses to the the crash. FHP said, and there is no further information regarding the vehicle or its driver as of Saturday.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call FHP at 407-737-2213 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS to help with the investigation, which FHP says is ongoing.
