It is spring, which means it’s time for the Osceola Council on Aging to host our annual Spring Community Resource Expo for the Osceola County community.
The event brings together hundreds of people from both Osceola County and Central Florida for the opportunity to attain information and education on the multitude of local programs, services, and businesses. The event is a fantastic way to learn about the myriads of supportive resources available for residents.
Scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, from 1-5 p.m., this free event on the OCOA campus will be held at the BEV Center, 700 Generation Point in Kissimmee.
“Community members should come out for an enjoyable afternoon of fun, education, and community camaraderie,” said William Santiago, OCOA’s Director of Senior Services. “Plus, attendees have the chance to win raffles, free gifts, and amazing prizes.”
This year, our platform will focus on providing tailored information to meet the needs and interests of seniors and their caregivers; primarily educational initiatives targeting health, wellness, aging, and other relevant topics. Further, we will host health screenings and workshops.
“Our expo will also connect guests with professionals who can assist them in navigating the aging process. Such advice may include home healthcare advice, clinical resources, and medical programs, while providing an opportunity for an afternoon of socialization amongst seniors,” added Santiago.
Last year, we had more than 250 guests with nearly fifty Central Florida vendors and expect additional participation this year.
Scheduled vendors will include Orlando Health, McCoy Federal Credit Union, Solaris, and Pinnacle Home Care, just to name a few.
During last year’s Expo, we were pleased that the Center for Independent Living of Central Florida presented as one of our largest vendors. They donated wheelchairs and other medical equipment to support the lives of many Osceola community members in need.
Vendor booths require only a $55 donation with the opportunity to not only market their organization, but meet hundreds of residents to promote special offerings, and general information about their services.
For businesses wanting to become sponsors or host a vendor booth, contact Leslie Ochoa, at sponsor@osceola-coa.com, or call (407) 846-8532.
