It is easy to say that we try to give kids the best childhood possible, especially one that is full of laughter, support, smiles, and a cancer-free environment. Unfortunately, cancer as we know it will find its way into the lives of thousands of children in the United States, where 43 children are diagnosed with cancer daily. It is truly devastating to see cancer cast its shadow over the light and joy of childhood, yet when treated with compassion, service, and leadership, the happiness of youth is preserved for all children across the nation.
For nearly two decades, the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation has provided children battling cancer with the opportunity to express their unique aspirations through fashion. The event, Fashion Funds the Cure, involved children dressing up as a future profession of interest, and displaying their style on a walkway in front of delighted audiences and supercars like Porsche and Ferrari. This upscale event is critical in raising the funds needed for pediatric cancer research, so that more children can be successful in their fight against cancer, giving way to a childhood plentiful in joy and good health. Such select events require only the most dedicated volunteers, which were graciously offered by Celebration High School Key Club. All attending Key Clubbers demonstrated that they were proud to serve and give aid to not only the children expressing their dreams, but also helping to manage and conduct the event for those also in attendance.
Key Club is a student-led organization that is dedicated to teaching high-schoolers in Florida and around the world to develop attributes such as serviceable citizenship, character, inclusiveness, and many more. At Celebration High School, a Key Club was just reactivated this year, and despite this, they have worked to record countless service hours and serve their community and school in more ways than one, targeting a multitude of service projects throughout the year. This enthusiastic spirit has allowed them to set their mark in Osceola County and represent the values that Key Club stands for.
In addition to this productive and serviceable school year, Celebration Key Club plans to continue serving through the summer, with events that will keep their members engaged for another school year of service and dedication.
Key Club is committed to helping high-school students leave a positive impact in their communities through volunteerism. By joining the battle against cancer, today’s children can enjoy a bright and fruitful childhood, that will bloom into the leadership of tomorrow.
