CareerSource Central Florida is the recipient of a new grant to support Osceola County residents

CareerSource Central Florida is the recipient of a new grant to support Osceola County residents who have been impacted negatively by COVID-19 that will provide, among other things, free training and up-skilling opportunities.

A highlight of the “Osceola Cares” program is for residents whose first language is not English will have an opportunity to enroll, at no cost. in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses.

The program also includes access to scholarships for re-training and upskilling in growing industries to earn competitive wages within some of the county’s fastest growing industries, including healthcare, manufacturing and construction.

Young adults ages 18-24 will have access to an eight-week work experience program to acquire new skills or expand their work experience.

The Osceola Cares program is funded through a grant from Osceola County coming from Federal CARES Act funding. Key partners include Valencia College, Osceola Career & Technical Education and the  Osceola Council on Aging, who are working to engage with employers across Osceola County, according to a CareerSource release.
