Firefighters, community help St. Cloud family rebuild home for special needs kids

After their house went up in flames more than a year ago, the Foster family finally got back home Saturday.
And with help from the St. Cloud Fire Department, Snow Construction and community supporters, not only is the 2-story home back, it’s better than ever.

Outfitted with special features for people with disabilities - including wider hallways, hallways and showers - the home will now be more comfortable for several of the family’s adopted children with special needs.

A firetruck and ambulance pulled away to reveal the new home to the delighted and grateful family.

Our fire crews have known and worked with this family for 25 years, and have so much respect and admiration for this family and the impact they have on the lives of these children,” city spokeswoman Maryemma Bachelder said in an email.

The early morning fire in February 2020 engulfed the house and sent several members of the family to the hospital.
