The St. Cloud Police Department Friday released body camera video footage of a Dec. 14 incident behind an East U.S. 192 car dealership and convenience store that led to the fatal shooting of a burglary suspect.

Officers shot Deshay Turner, 20, was shot when reports say he brandished a firearm while hiding inside some bushes in a yard behind the Wawa at 192 and Old Hickory Tree Road, and in turn officers shot him. The two officers involved are shown giving lifesaving measures on the video released Friday before the St. Cloud Fire Department transported Turner to St. Cloud Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to SCPD's video release Friday, the agency says Turner stole the gun from a vehicle on the Starling Chevrolet lot.
In the video, a suspect, later identified as Turner, is seen roaming the Starling lot in a grey hoodie and jeans. Officers responded to the video alarm around 2:45 a.m. and discovered Turner illegally entering cars. The officers made verbal commands to stop, which Turner ignored and fled on foot. He jumped a fence behind the Wawa into a residence's backyard, and the video shows officers pursuing and cornering Turner in bushes where he was hiding.
The officers give repeated commands to show his hands — "Put your hands up, I don't want to shoot you!" — the video shows. As another officer moves in to handcuff Turner, one officer fires at Turner when the suspect moves his hands toward a gun, then both officers fire again when Turner again moves his hands toward his side. At that point, one of the officers pull Turner from the bush to start CPR, when two other officers arrive and join in CPR and other lifesaving measures, as Turner was still breathing and alert.
At a press conference later in the morning Dec. 14, St. Cloud Police Chief Doug Goerke did not identify the suspect, only noted he was a black male in his 20s from the Orlando area with "a lengthy criminal history which includes 17 felony arrests and eight misdemeanors." Osceola County records show no arrests for a Deshay Turner, and a search of Orange County court records show a small number of arrests for an older Deshay Turner.
The only charge for a 20-year-old Deshay Turner shown is a misdemeanor for loitering and prowling at an Orlando Porsche dealership on Vineland Road on Dec. 3, which Goerke did address at his press conference.
According to an Orlando Police Department report, officers found Turner, who matched the description of a man walking the car lot pulling on door handles, walking away from the dealership. When questioned, he said he was shooting a rap video and his intent was to "shoot videos inside nice cars."
