A Washington D.C. man was arrested after the Osceola County Sheriff's Office says his daughter drowned in a hot tub while with him after he fell asleep.
Reynard Tyrone Hough, 33, was arrested Saturday and charged with child neglect with great bodily harm. On Sunday, detectives added the charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child, Sheriff's Office spokesperson Kim Montes said.
According to police, deputies and Osceola County Fire Rescue responded to a house off Nice Court, off Westside Boulevard in the Four Corners area, just after 3:30 a.m. Saturday for a call of an unresponsive child that appeared to have drowned in a hot tub. At the residence, listed as an Airbnb, a 20-month old female toddler was found and transported to Advent Heath Celebration. She was pronounced dead just after 4:30 a.m.
When Sheriff's detectives responded to the residence to investigate the drowning, the father stated he brought his daughter into the hot tub and fell asleep with the child in his arms. According to police, he said he awoke to the child unresponsive, in his arms.
"Detectives determined that the father (Reynard Tyrone Hough) had been neglectful in the death of his daughter and was arrested for child neglect with great bodily harm," a Sheriff's Office report stated.
Osceola County Jail records show Hough remains in custody as the death investigation remains ongoing.
