Osceola County Property Appraiser Katrina Scarborough is reminding county homeowners to file for homestead and other tax-saving exemptions on their primary residences. If you purchased a home and made it your primary residence by Jan. 1, you could qualify for homestead exemption to save as much as $750 on annual property taxes -- but the deadline for filing is March 1, 2023.
Remember to bring your Florida Driver’s License and social security number to the Property Appraisers' office when filing. Even if you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, there are ways to still qualify, such as have minor children who are U.S. citizens. E-filing is available (and encouraged) online, but walk-ins are welcome to the office Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Appointments can also be made for those living on the west side of the county each Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Osceola County Tax Collector Campbell City Office.
