On Nov. 16, the Osceola County Property Appraiser's office launched a new and improved e-file Homestead Application.
Why is this important? It's vital to file your homestead exemption on your primary residence, and the property you pay taxes on; that exemption can save you up to $750 annually on those taxes, and you may be eligible for other exemptions beyond the standard $25,000 off your assessed value (the value your taxes are based on) for being a member of certain classes, like veterans and seniors.
Also, the application is now also available in Spanish on the new site. Osceola County is among the first Property Appraiser’s office in the State of Florida to offer this bilingual exemption filing.
Osceola County residents can access the new application from the landing page www.property-appraiser.org or by going to efile.property-appraiser.org/.
Additional new features include:
- The ability for users to request their forgotten password
- An email to the user acknowledging the submission of the application
- Chat with a live customer service agent while filing the application
- In addition to the Homestead Exemption, customers can also file for the Portability of benefits and other exemptions (Limited Income Seniors, Veterans, Disability, etc.
The next set of planned enhancements are:
- Ability to upload required documents for ancillary exemptions (Seniors, Veterans, etc.)
- Trigger automated emails notifying the user of application approval
- A customer feedback form
Residents are encouraged to utilize the website whenever possible, or contact the office by phone at 407-742-5000 or email at info@property-appraiser.org.
Holiday Hours: the Property Appraiser's office will be closed for the New Year's Day holiday on Dec. 31 and for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 17.
