After Osceola County announced Osceola Parkway toll collections will transition to an All-Electronic Tolling (AET) system by Monday, May 1, a portion of the Parkway between Osceola Trail Road (Oasis at Shingle Creek) and Flora Boulevard will close on Friday, May 5 at 10 p.m. to remove the Shingle Creek Mainline Toll Plaza toll canopy and toll booths. The toll booths have been replaced with a newly installed electronic toll gantry that will allow for the free flow of traffic without having to stop and pay the toll.
It is expected to re-open by 5 a.m. Monday, May 8.
The demolition of the existing structure is expected to create some loud noise, the county said. It is a necessary step in the full electronic conversion of the Shingle Creek Mainline Toll Plaza.
Detour route: Westbound traffic can travel south on John Young Parkway or Carroll Street/Hoagland Boulevard to U.S. Highway 192, and go west to Vineland Road or Poinciana Boulevard to connect back to Osceola Parkway. Eastbound traffic should exit Poinciana Boulevard and take that or Vineland south to eastbound 192, then north on John Young to to connect back to Osceola Parkway.
