Has it been since before 2022 that you voted in Osceola County? If you a registered, it's a good idea to check your voter status.
That's the message from the Osceola County Supervisor of Elections Office, which has concluded an annual list maintenance. As a result, the number of active registered voters has decreased.
While the office maintains the voter roll throughout the year by removing voters who have moved away, been convicted of a felony, been declared mentally incompetent or have passed away, elections officials say this annual list maintenance moves voters with no activity in the past two election cycles to the inactive list. Florida law requires that this type of list maintenance is conducted every year.
It doesn't mean if you've been registered but are inactive, you are removed from the voter rolls.
Their status changes from active to inactive. Only active voters show in the total on our website and show up in regular public records requests for the voter roll," said SOE Administrative Services Director Kari Ewalt. "If inactive voters vote, update their registration, or make a vote by mail request they automatically switch back to active.
"We like for people to know that this is happening so they don’t question the drop in active voters online and for people to know that we do maintain the list throughout the year. It’s always a good idea for voters to check their voter status to ensure all of their information with us is up to date.
As of Monday, stats at the Osceola SOE's website at voteosceola.gov show 218,821 active registered voters (roughly 47% of the estimated 2025 population of about 460,000 (and no, that last number's not a typo), representing 78,218 registered Democrats, 65,398 Republicans and 75,205 "others" classified as independent, no party affiliation or a third party.
