AAA says the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fell to $2.95 Monday morning, although we still are hovering just over the $3 average ($3.04) in Osceola County.
That's still down nearly a dime in the last week and 16 cents over the last month, although prices have flexed between that mark and about $3.19 for much of 2025 in a phenomenon AAA – The Auto Club Group spokesperson Mark Jenkins called an "auto-correction"; with oil prices stable, gas stations drop prices in a fight to stay competitive with "the guy down the street," then have to rebound prices to stay profitable.
“This is a welcome relief for Floridians after a summer of fluctuating prices,” Jenkins said. “As we transition into fall, lower fuel demand and the switch to winter-blend gasoline can help ease prices.”
As summer travel winds down, schools reopen, and road trips decrease; demand for gas drops and supply is ample. Winter-blend gasoline, which is cheaper to produce, is now entering the market.
Hurricane threats remain a wildcard in the gas economy. Any disruption to Gulf Coast refineries or offshore rigs could reverse the current trend (and Gulf of America seas surface temperatures are at record highs, but that's a post for a different day).
