The Florida Highway Patrol has new information into a fatal hit-and-run accident that took the life of male pedestrian before daybreak last Monday on West U.S. Highway 192.
FHP reported Sunday that the driver of a white extended cab pick-up truck headed eastbound on 192 near Westside Boulevard struck the pedestrian, who was not in a crosswalk at approximately 5:20 a.m., then fled the scene. The victim was struck by at least one other vehicle after the initial impact.
New details note that a witness observed the crash, and took a photo of the suspect vehicle. The witness advised that the suspect turned into a gas station after the crash. Investigators were able to obtain two videos that show the suspect at the gas station.
The suspected initial vehicle is believed to have minor damage to the front right. Anyone with information into this crash is asked to call FHP at 4 07-737-2213 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS. This is an active criminal investigation, FHP emphasized.
