Summer is right around the corner. The School District of Osceola County’s 2024 summer school programs offer learning opportunities when school is not in session.  There are several in the Poinciana area.  The registration window closes Monday, April 29. 

Third grade reading summer camp is aimed for students who scored level 1 or 2 on the FAST testing.  Students attending this camp receive intensive reading instruction.  This is an opportunity to earn a Good Cause Exemption for promotion to 4th grade. 

The dates for the 3rd grade reading camp are June 3-21 Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Locations in the Poinciana area are KOA Elementary, Bellalago Academy and Pleasant Hill Elementary.

Sixth-grade Orientation is designed to provide rising 6th grade students with an orientation of middle school curriculum and expectations.  Classes will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Thursday at Bellalago Academy, Discovery Intermediate and Horizon Middle School.

AVID Excel provides English language learners the opportunity to accelerate academic language acquisitions.  This is for grades 6-8 and runs June 3-27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Thursday at Bellalago Academy. 

Environmental Studies Summer Camp Program for students in grades K-8 are for students who wish to explore the natural environments of Osceola County in a living classroom. This summer camp will be held at the School District of Osceola County’s Environmental Center, 4300 S. Poinciana Blvd.  Camps for grades K-1 will be June 3-6, grades 2-3 June 10-13, grades 4-5 June 17-20, grades 6-7 Jun 24-27.  Times for all the camps are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  To register, go to https://www.osceolaschools.net/domain/5104, click the link for Environmental Studies Summer Camp Program and choose which week your child is interested in attending.

ESE Extended School Year provides special education and related services to students with disabilities beyond the regular school year.  This is for children grades Pre-K-8 and runs June 3-27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Poinciana locations are Bellalago Academy, Discovery Intermediate, KOA Elementary and Pleasant Hill Elementary.

Extended Day Camp Summer Camp provides an environment to enhance students’ cognitive, social and cultural skills.  This is for students in grades K-5,  running June 3-28 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at Bellalago Academy.

GLIMPSE Academy is a camp to provide gifted and advanced students in grades K-8 an opportunity to engage in critical thinking, develop and expand skills with different strategies.  This camp is June 3-13 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Elementary. 

Middle School Language Arts, Science and Math Recovery provide middle school students the opportunity to recover a course they failed. This is for students in grades 6-8 and runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., June 3-27 at Bellalago Academy and Discovery Intermediate.

Summer 21st Century Program provides students project-based learning activities, service learning and health education.  This camp is June 3-27 for students K-5 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Chestnut Elementary, Deerwood Elementary, KOA Elementary, Pleasant Hill Elementary, and Poinciana Academy of Fine Arts.

Summer Bridge allows students in grades K-5 to better prepare for the next grade level in reading, math and science.  This runs June 3-27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bellalago Academy, KOA Elementary and Pleasant Hill Elementary.
