Earth Day is an annual April 22 event first held in 1970. Earth Day shows support for environmental programs and to learn about the importance of protecting the planet.

The City of St. Cloud, American Textile Recycling Service and the Osceola Library system present an Earth Day celebration Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial St. Cloud Library (819 13th St.)

This free event features eco-friendly classes, paper shredding truck, environmental exhibitors, face painting, textile recycling, battery recycling, local vendors, kid’s activities and more.

Also Saturday, the Hopkins Park Community Garden Day will be on Earth Day. This free fun day of music, food and hands-on work in the community garden will from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hopkins Community Garden (620 E. 17th St.)

Also Saturday, McCormick Research Institute’s Horses & Heroes Roundup will start at noon at the Deseret Ranch, (13754 Deseret Lane, St. Cloud.) Tickets are $20 and include a BBQ lunch and exciting western entertainment like trick riding, roman riding, a performance from their Veteran Drill Team and more. McCormick Research Institute’s vision is to expand access to effective equine-assisted therapies for veterans and individuals with special needs worldwide. To register, go to www. The Narcoossee Area Chapter of the Osceola County Historical Society presents Spring Plant and Baked Goods Sale is Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Historic Narcoossee School House (5026 Yukon St.). Shop colorful plants, baked goods and local vendor booths. All proceeds will go towards restoration of the historic 1886 Narcoossee School House. On Sunday, the Osceola County Young Farmers and Ranchers will hold their kick-off meeting at 12 noon at Double C Bar Ranch (4200 N. Canoe Creek Road in Kenansville). This is a great opportunity to learn about Osceola County’s Young Farmers and Ranchers Program and the new up and coming plans for this group. If you are between the ages of 18 to 35, live in Osceola County and love agriculture, come out and pick some blueberries, network and enjoy some delicious food. Next week, The Ranch (5452 Jones Road) will hold an open house on Wednesday, April 26 from 5-7 p.m. It’s an opportunity to check out one of the area’s wedding and event venues. See the indoor and outdoor spaces that are available to rent. For more information, call 407-957-7392.

Go from there to the Downtown St. Cloud Monthly Market from 5-9 p.m. on New York Avenue in the 10th-12th Street blocks. Enjoy walking through St. Cloud’s downtown district with pop-up vendors, music and local stores to browse. In addition, the St. Cloud Women’s Club Heritage Museum is now open on St. Cloud’s Market Wednesday from 5-7 p.m.
