Be a part of something big! The 14th annual World Largest Swimming Lesson takes place on Thursday, June 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at pools like the Chris Lyle Aquatic Center. The global event part of “Swimming Lessons Save Lives,” teaches important water competency and safety skills. Drowning is the leading cause of unintended death for kids ages 1-4 and the second-leading cause for ages 5-14. Thursday (June 15) is the deadline to register for the City of St. Cloud’s Senior Appreciation Lunch. The lunch will be held on Friday, June 23 from 1-5 p.m. at the Marina Banquet Hall. Juneteenth Movie in the Park, a night for a show, food and fun will be on Saturday at sunset at Hopkins Park, 620 E. 17th St. “Black Panther Wakanda Forever” will be shown, so bring a chair or blanket and enjoy.

 

The St. Cloud Police Department is offering a Women’s Safety Awareness and Self-defense Workshop on Saturday, June 17 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the St. Cloud Training Facility, 3371 Cord Ave. Learn how to recognize, avoid dangerous situations and self defense moves. This workshop is for women 18 years of age and older. Participants should wear comfortable workout clothes for hands on training. Class size is limited to the first 15 women who sign up at Ceunit@stcloudfl.gov.

 

Summer Kids Flicks are presented by the City of St. Cloud at the St. Cloud Community Center every Tuesday through Aug. 1. Children ages 12 and under are invited to this free event (children must be accompanied by an adult at all times). The movie starts at 10:30 a.m.

 

It’s time to ride this summer — so you might as well learn how to do it fast! St. Cloud’ BMX Summer Camp will be held June 1923 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for riders ages 6 years old and over at the city BMX track in Peghorn Park, right off Budinger Avenue. The City of St. Cloud is offering a free nutrition class, “Eating the Rainbow” on June 22 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Hopkins Park Learn the health benefits of eating fruits and vegetables, learn the difference between fresh, frozen and canned and learn some delicious ways to prepare them.
