The Friends of the Veterans Memorial Library, St. Cloud invites the community to an Ice Cream Social on Saturday, Aug. 2 at 1 p.m. Enjoy cookies and lemonade too. The cookies are provided by Cakes, Pastries & More, located on New York Ave. Meet the “Friends” and find out what they do for the community.
Earlier in the morning, check out The Amazing Chemistry Show and Family Experience, a free family fun day starting at 10 a.m. at the Heartcry Chapel (5223 E. Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy.) This entertaining production is filled with fireballs, colored foam, liquid nitrogen, glow in the dark solutions and more. There will be plenty of interactive hands-on activities.
Then in the evening check out local classic cars and connect with fellow enthusiasts at Cars, Coffee & Community Vibes! at Coffee Hour Café (4755 Old Canoe Creek Road) at 6 p.m.
Calling all teachers! Crust and Crumbs Social House (1108 10th St.) presents Battle of the Teachers on Friday, Aug. 8 at 8 p.m. Bring your fellow educators to represent your school for a night of fun, food and friendly competition. The school that brings the most teachers wins big. 10% of the night’s proceeds will go back to your school.
Bringing Classrooms to Life One Gift at a Time! Submit teacher nominations with a purchase at any participating downtown St. Cloud business from Aug. 4-9. All nominated teachers will be put into a drawing to receive Amazon gift cards and prizes. One teacher will have their Amazon wish list cleared (up to a $200 value). The drawing will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9. Amazon gift card donations may also be made. Saturday, Aug. 9 will also be filled with various in-store teacher specials.
Participating downtown businesses are East Row Market, Southern Roots Antiques, Savvy Sweets, Sweet Spot Sno Balls, Amaryllis Hair Salon, 34 Fireflies and Island Cloud Grill.

A neat twist to the Fall Market is monthly themes. Vendors are encouraged to dress in themes like Enchanted Market; Arts on the Avenue; Fall Market, and Christmas/Holiday Market.
The lawn in front of the Lakefront Performing Arts pavilion will be closed to the public through the end of September. for the construction of a shade structure.
