ST. CLOUD NEWS — Celebrate Juneteenth this weekend; World’s Largest Swim Lesson June 26

Ready! Set! Swim!  The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson takes place on Thursday, June 26 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Chris Lyle Aquatic Center.  Be a part a part of an amazing global event to learn important water competency and safety skills.  Drowning is preventable, yet it is the single leading cause of death for ages 1-4 and the second leading cause of death/attended injury for ages 5 -14. Juneteenth, also called Emancipation Day, is the commemoration of June 19, 1865, the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas learned that they were free. 

Juneteenth Art & Film Expo takes place on Friday, June 20 from 4-9 p.m. at the St. Cloud Community Center. This evening will be filled with creativity and inspiration, art, film and unforgettable memories.  From paintings to sculptures, photography to mixed media, there is something for everyone to enjoy.  There will be live entertainment, paint & sip, workshops, gifts and prizes and food and drinks.

Join in the Juneteenth Gospel celebration “Flourishing Together”.  This is a night of soul, praise and black joy.  This event features a line-up of local gospel artists, church choirs and special community guests.  Enjoy live praise music, fellowship, joy and Juneteenth celebration.  Hosted by Black Empowerment & Community Council (BECC), this event will take place on Sunday, June 22 at 6 p.m. at the St. Cloud Marina.
