Poinciana News — Public Southport Connector expressway meeting Tuesday

    The Poinciana Council will host an open Board meeting on Tuesday, July 25 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at Valencia College’s Poinciana Campus to discuss the Southport Connector and Poinciana traffic. Breakfast is at 8:30, with a CFX presentation on the Southport Connector at 9 a.m. and an Osceola County presentation on Poinciana transportation at 9:30. An audience question and answers session will follow.

    District 3 Commissioner Brandon Arrington will host a free Drive-Thru Summer Food Distribution on Saturday, July 22 at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church (3880 Pleasant Hill Road). Meal packages will be distributed on a first-come first-served basis and while supplies last. 

     

    Love Makes Me Grow will host Chestnut Elementary School Back to School Bash and Job Fair on Friday, July 28th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chestnut Elementary School, 4300 Chestnut St.  In addition to back-to-school giveaways, local businesses with current job opportunities will be onsite.  This is a great opportunity to learn about Love Makes Me Grow’s gardening classes.

    Love Makes Me Grow’s mission statement is “to teach diverse communities the value and importance of living off the land.  We promote and develop the social and economic growth of the individual, regardless of limitations and barriers”.  Its nine-week program has experts to educate families how to create their own food garden.

    My Soccer Academy is offering free trial classes for children ages 2-16.  This year-round program promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for children as well as the opportunity to engage in physical activity and boost their endurance, coordination and team work skills.  In Poinciana, My Soccer Academy meets at Deerwood Park (4051 Laurel Ave.) Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6 p.m. and 9 a.m. on Saturday.
