POINCIANA NEWS — Friday night is Game Night at APV!

The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) presents Friday Food Truck and Game Night this Friday, May 26 at 5 p.m. at the Poinciana Community Lawn, located at the Poinciana Activity Campus (445 Marigold Ave.)

Several food trucks will be on hand, so make this a no-cook Friday night.  There will also be yard games for families and friends to enjoy.  Try your hand at Jenga, Corn Hole, Connect 4, hula hoops and jump ropes.  In addition, Friday Food Truck and Game Night will have bounce houses and a DJ to entertain with music, fun and games.  Starting at 7 p.m., Bingo kicks off inside for the adults.

 

There is still time to register for Poinciana Youth Sports Association’s summer basketball season,.  This co-ed league is for youth ages 5-17.  Games are at Bellalago Academy (3651 Pleasant Hill Road).  Outdoor practices will be held at APV’s basketball courts (445 Marigold Ave.), Bellalago Academy, Deerwood Park (4051 Laurel Ave.) and Vance Harmon Park (50 Country Club Dr.).

Games will be played on Saturdays and the season runs Saturdays from June 3 to July 22.  Draft Day is Saturday, May 27. Registration fee is $140 or $165 after May 27, and includes jersey. To register go to, www.pysafl.com.  For more information, call 863-512-1288.

 

Osceola County district 3 Commissioner Brandon Arrington is hosting a Drive-thru Summer Food Distribution on Saturday, June 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 3880 Pleasant Hill Rd.  This is a drive-thru event.  Meal packages will be distributed one per car, first come, first served, while supplies last.

 

Congratulations to the Osceola School District Athletic Director of the Year, Poinciana High School’s Tiffany King, who was honored at the district Athletic Awards Event on May 17.  Jordan Creel received Poinciana High School’s Coach of the Year Award and was in the running for the Dean Cherry Award, given to the county’s Coach of the Year.

Just a reminder, the Southport Farmers Market, held the third Saturday of the month at 2001 E. Southport Road will be closed for the summer months.  The Market will reopen in September.
