Solivita Fall Arts & Crafts Festival, a fundraiser for St. Rose of Lima Food pantry, is this Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Solivita Village Center. Enjoy over 120 artisans and craft vendors, food, ice cream, drinks and numerous live music acts – Latin and jazz band, Octoberfest musicians, steel drums and strolling entertainers. There will be a free kids zone featuring arts and crafts, face painting, drawing board, DJ, popcorn and balloons. This year’s kids zone features a newly added scarecrow stilt walker and local kids performing assorted dances. In addition, there is a wine, beer and art garden. No pets are allowed at this free, open to the public and family-friendly seasonal event.

 

Fall Festival and Community Health Fair takes place on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Kingdom Life International Christian Center (1901 S. Poinciana Blvd), featuring bounce houses, face painting, balloon art, free food, raffle giveaways (giveaways include tablets, food baskets, give cards and more), carnival games, health screening and healthcare enrollment.

Do you have ‘the Write Stuff ’? The Osceola County Library system is looking for YOU! Submit your original short story or poem for a chance to win. Choose from one of five prompts and write a short story or poem in the genre of your choice. All entries will be divided into age categories (grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12) and one winner will be chosen from each category.

Online submissions will be accepted during the month of November and can be up to 4,500 words. Submit original piece of fiction or poetry via https://osceolalibrary. librariesshare.com/t. All submissions must be in by Nov. 3.

Understanding your credit report and score may take your financial future in a new direction. This presentation will help you learn how financial institutions evaluate your credit, the strategies to maintain a good credit record and the best practices to repair your credit score. Presented by Centennial Bank, this program will be held Thursday, Nov. 2 at the Poinciana Library, 101 N. Doverplum Ave.

All library events are free and open to the public.

 

The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the Poinciana Veteran Memorial Park (401 Walnut St.) beginning at 11 a.m. The Polk County Sheriff’s Honor Guard will present colors followed by guest speakers and more. After the ceremony, a picnic lunch will be served by the staff of APV to all in attendance.

 

The next District 3 food distribution will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Rose of Lima Church (3880 Pleasant Hill Road). The last event was held on Oct. 21 and helped feed more than 600 families. This was accomplished with the support from Second Harvest Food bank of Central Florida, State Representative Kristen Arrington’s partnership with the Interact Club of New Dimensions High School for volunteers, St. Rose of Lima food Pantry and County staff. Distribution is on a first come basis. Food will be distributed while supplies last.
