Women’s History Month annually highlights the contribution of women to events in history and modern society. The 2024 Women’s History Month theme is “Women Who Advocate for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion”.

Begin the celebration of Women’s History Month at the Poinciana Library by creating a fashionable bottlecap necklace to show your pride. Take-and-make kits are available for pickup beginning Wednesday, March 6. If you are unable to pick-up a kit, download the flyer at: www.bit. ly/03womenshistory.

Dance into the world of interactive story telling with Books & Ballet on Thursday, March 7 from 5-6 p.m. The Orlando Ballet will be presenting this in celebration of Women’s History Month.

Make sure to stop by the Library on Tuesday, March 12 from 7-8:30 p.m. for Trivia Night, Women’s History Edition. Unleash your inner Rosie the Riveter and see how well you do on this quiz of past prominent women. Winners will receive a book prize of their choice. This event is for ages 19 and up.

Women in Film: Carmen Jones will be at the Library on Saturday, March 23 from 2-4:30 p.m. Immerse yourself in film history as you watch the talented styling of Dorothy Dandridge. This movie earned her an Academy Award nomination.

Conversational Spanish takes place on Friday, March 1 from 3-4:30 p.m. Engage with others to practice your Spanish and improve your vocabulary and competence. Basic Spanish skills are required.

A community blood drive takes place on Wednesday, March 27. OneBlood’s Big Red Bus will be onsite to receive donations. This community blood drive runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All Library events are free and open to the public.

 

Poinciana Christian Preparatory School (4942 Old Pleasant Hill Road) and 2525 Trafalgar Blvd.) is offering Spring Fun Programs on March 11-15 during Spring Break. Kids can enjoy games, sports, spring themed activities, arts and crafts and more.

Camp hours are from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aftercare is from 3-6 p.m. early care is from 6-7:30 a.m. for additional fees. To register, go to www. summerfunprograms.com/ spring.
